Olympic hats galore

Shenzhen-based Mainland Headwear Holdings received a license to produce caps for the Beijing Olympics from the Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee. The firm recently sold out its first lot of 20,000 caps bearing the Olympic insignia in one day. To meet with strong demand for the hats, Mainland Headwear plans to construct a new US$10 million factory with capacity for making 84,000 caps per day. The firm currently produces 30 million caps per year and plans to invest US$35 million to open 250 retail outlets to sell hats on the mainland and in Hong Kong.
