US-based Open Source Development Labs, a consortium promoting the Linux operating system, said it would open a Beijing office in late August. The company plans to work with local companies on business, marketing and technical issues. The consortium recently opened a Japan office in Yokohama. Officials said China is one of the world's fastest-growing markets for Linux, predicting system sales would grow at 50% annually over the next five years.
