Pew says China's Xi failing to make global impression

Chinese President Xi Jinping is failing to make a strong positive impression on the global public, but on balance China is seen favorably, especially from an economic perspective, Reuters reported, citing a report issued by the Washington-based Pew Research Center on Monday. While more than 90% of Chinese had confidence in Xi, who assumed the reins of state power last year, that dropped to just 28% in the US and just 6% in Japan. More broadly, global impressions of China were on balance more favourable than unfavourable, with the country’s economic growth generally seen as a good thing in most countries surveyed.
