PLA appoints commanders for three new military wings

The People’s Liberation Army has appointed three commanders following the official launch of two new wings, one for missiles and rockets and another for online and space warfare–both part of an ongoing modernization push, South China Morning Post reported. The former, known as the PLA Rocket Force, takes over from the Second Artillery Corps but will keep the latter’s  commander, Wei Fenghe, and will control China’s nuclear arsenal. Li Zuocheng, previously commander of the Chengdu military region, was made new head of the army’s land command force. Lieutenant General Gao Jin has been made commander of the tech-focused Strategic Support Force.
