Progress in SARS vaccine test

The first four volunteers in the human testing of a prototype SARS vaccine showed no ill effects four days after receiving their injections, scientists said. The volunteers are the first human subjects to test a potential SARS vaccine following successful testing on animals. The four received a dose of either the vaccine or a SARS-free placebo at Beijing's Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital on May 22 and have been under observation ever since. Testing on the first four volunteers will run to 210 days, scientists said, with another 32 volunteers due to join the test shortly.
