China Central Television (CCTV) said the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (SBSM)China would "remeasure" Mount Everest, or, as it's known in China, the Qomolangma Peak that rises above the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The measuring exercise will be conducted between March 20 and June 20, and focus on glacial shrinking caused by global warming over 30 years. CCTV said this will be China's fourth official look at the peak. Its stature was last measured in 1975.
