China has recalled batches of peanut butter following an announcement by US-based ConAgra Foods that certain lots may have been tainted with salmonella, AP reported. Last week, the manufacturer recalled Peter Pan and Great Value peanut after health officials linked the products to a salmonella outbreak that left at least 329 people sick in the US. China imported 742 cases of the two brands in September and December of 2006 and January of 2007; at least 156 cases have already been sold. There have not been reports of people in China getting sick from eating the peanut butter.
