Renault and Dongfeng Motor Company are planning a joint venture to produce 300,000 vehicles a year. Renault Chairman and CEO Louis Schweitzer met with Chinese authorities and DFC to discuss the venture slated to begin production in 2006. The project would make the latest Renault models available in China. The first vehicle to be assembled by the joint venture will most likely be the Megane sedan. Renault affiliate Nissan and DFC recently agreed to set up a joint venture to produce 620,000 cars and trucks beginning 2007.
