The cities in the Yangtze River Delta region like Suzhou and Nanjing have become the new battlefields for developers since the housing prices there have not formed bubbles yet.
Zhu Xudong, executive director of E-House (China), a real estate company, said, "Industry analysts believe that with the construction of the Shanghai-Nanjing high speed railway, relative to Shanghai’s high housing prices, those in cities like Wuxi and Changzhou will be driven higher."
According to data from the Changzhou government, in 2009, the price for a commercial residential building was $727.9 per square meter on average, up 7.34% from a year earlier.
Global Times said that as the construction of transportation infrastructure like the Shanghai-Nanjing high speed railways brings the two cities closer, the housing prices in both areas will be higher.
