Sembcorp to expand in Qinzhou Port Economic Development Zone

[photopress:zone_guanxi.jpg,full,alignright]Sembcorp, Singapore’s largest water company, has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) to create a branch of its centralized utilities business in Qinzhou Port Economic Development Zone.

Qinzhou City is a major port city of Guangxi Province. On the the south coast of Qinzhou City is the Qinzhou Port Economic Development Zone (QEDZ) which is a provincial development zone set up in June 1996.

The development zone has a total area of 138 square km. It includes:

A 30 square km petrochemical plant.
A 20 square km downstream industrial area.
The
10 square km Qinzhou Free Trade Port Area.
The 78 square km Jinguang Industrial Park.

[photopress:sembcorp.jpg,full,alignleft]The QEDZ aims to focus on the 6 pillar industries of petrochemical industry, energy, paper manufacturing, grain and oil processing, metallurgy and shipbuilding.

Sembcorp has total assets of over $6.4 billion and has more than 6,700 employees.
