[photopress:Cincinnatti.jpg, full, alignright]The University of Cincinnati, seen here, is making ties with Shandong University in China. The College of Business has joined with Shandong University, one of the top 25 universities in China, in establishing a joint research center.
Mitch Leventhal, Vice Provost of UC International, has worked closely with establishing this connection with China. Her said, ‘We proposed something I call comprehensive collaboration, in which we try to identify specific, concrete activities across as many colleges and departments as possible, and to then encourage ongoing faculty and student contact.’
Lawrence Gales, academic director for International Programs in the College of Business and soon to be director of the UC Executive MBA at Shandong University, said, ‘This will enhance the university’s research reputation, aid in the development of scholars, and potentially contribute to local firms. Students can benefit at all levels — even those not directly involved in the research — through the enhancement of knowledge.’
The College of Business is also involved in the creation of a UC Executive MBA program at Shandong University. Lawrence Gales said, ‘We anticipate sending UC students to SDU for either short-term or long-term study abroad programs. We already operate undergraduate and MBA short-term study abroad programs in China and SDU will become a key part of that effort. We anticipate bringing SDU students, both undergraduates and graduates, to UC.’
