Shanghai hotels launch new recruitment website

[photopress:launch_ceremony.gif,full,alignright]A total of 52 international hotels in Shanghai have joined up with Chinese marketing agency EmporioAsia to form a recruitment website for the hotel industry.

www.9djob.com is a bilingual website that provides information on hotel jobs, recruitment news and current trends in the hospitality industry. Employers can search for candidates online and, vice-versa, job-seekers can look for positions and submit their resumes on the site.

The 52 hotels are part of International Branded Hotels of Shanghai (IBHS), which brings together the city’s four- and five-star hotels. IBHS has met on a regular basis since 1993 and is a division of the Shanghai Hotel Industry Association.

IBHS Chairman William Hall (pictured above in the center) said, ‘The demand for quality staff has never been so high with existing and hotels due to open looking near and far to recruit team players to join this exciting industry’.

Vincent F. Kobler, CEO of EmporioAsia, said the new website will be ‘the largest and most powerful portal online for jobs in the hotel sector in Shanghai and in China’.

The name of the site ‘9d’ plays on the Shanghainese pronounciation ‘jiu di’ meaning hotel (jiu being Chinese for number 9).

The launch of the website comes at a time when the hospitality industry is booming in Shanghai. In the run up to the 2010 World Expo, 20,000 international hotel rooms are scheduled to open.
