[photopress:shanghaiport.jpg,full,alignright]Shanghai International Port, which runs China’s busiest container harbor, handled a record number of cargo boxes in August. China exported 23 percent more clothing, electronics, and other goods in the first seven months of the year, increasing shipments through Shanghai and the country’s other sea ports. Container volume rose 21 percent to 1.95 million 20-foot boxes last month, according to Shanghai International Port’s website.
The Shanghai Port handled 14 million boxes between January and August — a 19 percent increase over last year.
