In a mainland consumer first, Shenzhen Airlines said it would compensate passengers for flights delayed for operational, non weather-related reasons. For 8-hour delays, passengers would get full refunds. For delays of four hours, the refund would be 30%, the same refund passengers would get for being bumped from overbooked flights. Shippers will also get refunds for cargo delays. The airline also said it would pay victims' families between US$68,000 and US$128,000 compensation in accident-related injury and death cases.
