Shenzhen port traffic up 31%

Shenzhen's port experienced container throughput growth of 31% in the first four months of 2004, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce. The Guangdong province city's port facilities handled 3.84 million 20-foot equivalent units (teu) from January to April. The value of exports passing out of Shenzhen, China's number two export port after Shanghai, totaled US$3.75 billion in January, accounting for over 10% of China's national total, according to ministry data.
