Sino-Japanese ties improving

Following Saturday's meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Japanese counterpart, Nobutaka Machimura, on the sidelines of a two-day Asia-Europe foreign ministers meeting in Kyoto, Japan, the two countries cite "improvement" in the tense relations between them, saying Asia's stability depends on their ties, the AP reported, citing a Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesman. Meanwhile, 61% of Japanese said their Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi, should not visit the Yasukuni shrine while in office, while 34% said he should act according to his beliefs, state media reported, citing Japanese television network TBS.
