China reported its sixth human case of avian flu as well as a fresh outbreak in a flock of ducks December 15, reported AP. A 35-year-old man in Suichuan county, eastern Jiangxi province, was found to be infected with the disease, the first human case in 16 days. There have been two confirmed deaths in China this year, and H-5N1 is also believed to have been responsible for the death of a 12-year-old girl. In Shangxi village, also in Jiangxi, 1,640 ducks reportedly died from an avian flu outbreak, and 15,000 ducks in the area were destroyed to contain the virus.
