[photopress:St_Moritz.gif,full,alignright] The exclusive ski resort of St Moritz has given its permission to a Chinese property developer in Shenzhen to use its trademark name. “St Moritz Gardens” will be one of the most expensive places to live in the city, it will house 5,000 people and is scheduled to be finished in two years time.
Property developers came up with the name when they were put into contact with the Swiss tourist board in Hong Kong. Casey Liu of Switzerland Tourism said, “Most Chinese have never heard of St Moritz, and those that travel to Switzerland go to Zurich, Geneva, Interlaken or Montreux.” But she said that Chinese businessmen wanted a more exclusive name to use for the development and settled on St Moritz after delegations were sent between China and Switzerland.
