Spring Airlines to list in Shanghai

Budget carrier Spring Airlines said it will pursue a listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange while expanding into overseas flights, the South China Morning Post reported. The Shanghai-based airline, which expects to post a profit this year despite the downturn due to cost cutting measures, is seeking a share float in the second half of next year. A company spokesman said that while the airline would list first in Shanghai, it would not rule out a subsequent listing in Hong Kong. The carrier hopes to use proceeds from a listing to fund expansion and the launch of flights to Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, South Korea and Russia.
