Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange has been cleared to trade sugar futures, state media reported, citing an exchange official. The start date was not set. Sugar woiuld be the third commodity traded at Zhengzhou, alongside wheat and cotton. Currently, only eight commodity items are traded on the country's three futures exchanges, including copper, aluminum, oil fuel and rubber in Shanghai, and soybean and corn in Dalian. China is the world's third largest sugar producer and consumer.
