Survey: Shanghai men moody workers

Native Shanghainese men don't match up to their migrant counterparts in the employability stakes, a recent survey of Shanghai businesses found. According to the study by headhunting firm Zhaopin.com, migrant workers are seen as diligent, hardworking and more willing to put in extra hours, while Shanghainese men are perceived as arrogant and do more talking on the job – especially about their co-workers – than actual work, the Shanghai Daily reported. One third of those surveyed, for example, said that local male employees often complain the minute they become frustrated with their work, while only 4% said the same of migrant workers, the paper reported. "Native male workers are shrewd as a whole," the daily quoted one business manager as saying. "Sometimes they are too shrewd to partner with or manage."
