Taiwan is seeking cooperation in logistics services with the mainland, with the aim of boosting customs clearance efficiency and transforming the island into a logistics hub in the Asia Pacific region.
Tso Heng, who heads the Center for Economic Innovation and Deregulation of Taiwan’s Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD), said a potential agreement with the mainland has been made a priority in a CEPD logistics development plan. The plan will commit US$3.19 billion between 2010 and 2013 to build Taiwan into a logistics hub in the region, according to Tso.
Focus Taiwan reports that China has apparently indicated its willingness to work in with the plan.
