Taiwan's WHO membership bid rejected

China applauded the World Health Organization's decision to deny Taiwan full membership in the group, AFP reported. WHO member states voted against Taiwan's application on Monday. "As the World Health Organization is an organ of the United Nations open to sovereign nations, Taiwan has no basic status to join," China's foreign ministry said. The ministry also said the vote "fully shows the common recognition by the international community of the one-China policy."
