China's trade in high-tech products is predicted to top US$400 billion this year, state media reported. The Ministry of Commerce said trade in high-tech products totalled US$371.7 billion in the first 11 months of 2005, up 26.9% over the previous year. Imports of high-tech products rose 21.3% year-on-year to US$177.1 billion, while exports grew nearly one third year-on-year to US$194.6 billion. There is expected to be a US$20 billion trade surplus in the sector this year, around one fifth of the country's total. High-tech exports accounted for a record 28.4% of total exports during the period, up from 27.9% in 2004.
