115,487 tourists visited the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China from Feb. 13 to 22, up 4.3% from the same period last year. This in a press release from the regional tourism administration.
The same release said the holiday travel rush brought in $11.7 million US dollars of tourism income over the 10 days, up 6% year-on-year.
More than 2,000 tourists joined a Himalayan folk culture festival to celebrate the Tibetan Year of Iron Tiger and the Chinese New Year on Feb. 14.
