TNT severs ties with Sinotrans

Global express delivery company TNT Express has set up independent operations in China following the
expiry of its joint venture with Sinotrans. More than 90 per cent of employees from the joint
venture have transferred to the new TNT organisation.
The company plans to expand the number of its China branches from t2 to 25 this year and the number of international
gateway cities from three to seven. It has appointed the Beijing-based Machplus Worldwide
Express to act as its agent in China.
Meanwhile TNT has signed an agreement with
China Post, whereby the two patties will explore possible co-operation in the postal service,
express delivery and logistics market, Shanghai Dailt said. The two parties
initially
started co-operating in 2000, some-thing that was reported to have angered Sino-trans and
contributed to the disagreements that developed between the two companies.
