Anhui Expressway announced that it had not seen a decrease in toll revenues following the June 17 implementation of a new toll fee classification scheme. Small trucks hauling under 15 metric tons on Anhui province toll roads pay a RMB 1.40 toll compared to RMB 1 in the past. Larger trucks pulling 15 metric tons or above pay RMB 1.60, compared to RMB 1.80 before the new scheme. Analysts said that the reclassification was part of provincial efforts to attract a greater number of large trucks to the highways. Anhui Expressway said that it plans to invest US$26.5 million to upgrade the Hening expressway linking Hefei, Anhui province and Nanjing, Zhejiang province in the scond half of 2004.
