Toy exports rise despite product recalls

China’s toy exports grew 20.1% year-on-year in the first 10 months of 2007 despite global recalls of millions of Chinese-made toys over lead paint concerns and other product-safety issues, the Wall Street Journal reported. Though the number of exported toys was not given, state media reported that exports totaled US$973 million between January and October. The top two markets for Chinese-made toys remained the EU and US, which together bought 67.6% of all toys.
