Japan's biggest carmaker Toyota Motors plans to build an engine plant with its joint venture partner China FAW. The US$43m plant would be built in Changchun, Jilin province, where China FAW has its headquarters, and is expected to start producing 50,000 engines a year in 2005.
Nikkei added that Toyota's Hino Motors unit would start making trucks and diesel engines in Shanghai from next year.
