Tsingtao Brewery, the mainland's largest brewer, will spend US$20 million on a fifth plant in Shaanxi province in order to strengthen its position in China's northwest, The Standard of Hong Kong reported. The new plant, 55% owned by Tsingtao's Xian branch, is to be located in Yulin city in the north of the province and will produce 100,000 kilolitres per year. Tsingtao, in which Anheuser-Busch holds a 27% stake, owns more than 50 breweries across the nation.
