US federal prosecutors filed charges against two groups of Chinese nationals, saying they separately tried to steal advanced seeds from DuPont (DFT.NYSE), Monsanto (MON.NYSE), and Ventria Bioscience, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing court documents and industry officials. In the first case, Kansas prosecutors charged Zhang Weiqiang, an employee of Fort Collins and Yan Wengui, 63, a rice geneticist for the US Department of Agriculture and a Chinese citizen. Separately, US officials charged Florida resident Mo Hailong with conspiracy to steal trade secrets from DuPont and Monsanto, according to a complaint filed in US District Court, Des Moines, Iowa.
