Prominent US technology companies have asked Washington to put censorship issues on its China agenda, AP reported. Companies like Google and Yahoo said the government should treat censorship as a trade barrier that should be addressed in bilateral free trade agreements. They were speaking at a State Department-sponsored conference on internet freedom. Last year, Google and Yahoo were among four top technology companies lambasted at a House of Representatives hearing for activities in China; lawmakers accused them of pursuing profits at the cost of social responsibility.
