In his first trip to Beijing since taking office as US Commerce Secretary, Carlos Gutierrez said China must take steps in its trade with the US to avert rising protectionist sentiment in Washington, particularly in its enforcement of intellectual property rights. Gutierrez, and US Trade Representative Rob Portman will begin talks with Vice Premier Wu Yi Saturday, a move seen as setting the stage for a larger meeting in July to discuss textile trade, China's currency regime and IP protection.
