US puts duties on China coated paper

The US has placed preliminary duties on Chinese glossy, coated paper and salts used in fertilizer production, Reuters reported. The Commerce Department has placed duties between 3.92% and 12.83% on Chinese-made magazine-quality paper to offset government subsidies and a 109.11% duty on some potassium phosphate salts. It also placed a duty of 17.48% on Indonesian coated paper. Duties on Chinese products could be higher if US industry successfully argues that China subsidizes coated paper exports by keeping the domestic currency undervalued against the US dollar.
