[photopress:Execs.gif,full,alignright]Executive MBAs don’t have to be full time programs. Many people want to keep their jobs and study for an EMBA at the same time. The University of Idaho (UI) is looking to bring an EMBA program to professionals in the Sandpoint area who will be able to take classes on the weekend which won’t intefere with their work. The program would also include international travel, possibly to China or India.
The prospective EMBA course would draw professionals from local companies and UI has been talking to these firms to gage their interest and support.
“The company is enthusiastic about the prospect of a local MBA program,” said David Gunter, spokesperson for Coldwater Creek Inc which has its headquarters in Sandpoint. The firm has offered company facilities for classroom space.
Boise State University in Idaho has already started a similar MBA program with support from Micron, Hewlett-Packard and Idaho Power. “A lot of large companies use executive MBA programs as part of their succession planning,” said Kirk Smith, associate dean at BSU’s College of Business and Economics.
