A Chinese food regulator said Wal-Mart (WMT.NYSE) sold donkey meat with fox DNA because it didn’t properly inspect the products, Bloomberg reported, citing a China National Radio broadcast on Monday. The Shandong Food and Drug Administration told Wal-Mart to compensate the people affected and establish a DNA testing system for food as quickly as possible, the broadcaster said, citing meetings between executives and the agency. Wal-Mart stated in a statement on Jan 2 that it withdrew all products made by Dezhou Fujude Food after finding fox DNA in the supplier’s products and vowed to compensate customers who bought the affected meat.
