Websites offering fake bank notes

Websites offering counterfeit bank notes were still operating on Wednesday, despite monetary authorities saying they would be shut down, the South China Morning Post reported. Several online sellers in Guangdong province offered notes with security features allegedly able to cheat counterfeit detectors. The sellers said that the notes were not to be deposited in banks however as tellers have been trained to spot fakes. The period before the Chinese New Year is the high point for cash transactions in the country. Approximately 90% of counterfeit bank notes in China originate in Guangdong province.
