Premier Wen Jiabao said during the weekend that employment for university graduates would be Beijing’s "top priority," the Financial Times reported. "We have made finding jobs for university students our top priority and will come out with some measures to make sure all graduates have somewhere constructive to direct their energy," he said during a visit to the Beijing University of Astronautics and Aeronautics. Wen also said the government was concerned about newly unemployed migrant workers. According to government figures, 10 million migrant workers lost their jobs in the first 11 months of the year, and 4.85 million had returned home. Slowing growth has raised fears in Beijing about the social impact of widespread unemployment.
