Wingtech to sue Dutch government for Nexperia intervention

Chinese tech firm Wingtech Technology Co. Ltd. said it will sue the Dutch government after the Netherlands froze the operations of its semiconductor subsidiary Nexperia Holding and stripped the company of control, reports Caixin. At an investor meeting late Sunday, Wingtech announced it would initiate lawsuits and administrative appeals to challenge the government action. The company said it was preparing an appeal to the Dutch Supreme Court, arguing the move lacked both procedural fairness and substantive legal grounding.

The Shanghai-listed firm now holds only economic rights in Nexperia, while its founder Zhang Xuezheng has been suspended from his role at the Dutch unit. Wingtech disclosed the development after a two-day trading halt.

The intervention underscores the growing geopolitical risk facing Chinese companies investing abroad, especially in sensitive sectors such as semiconductors. It also reflects a shift in strategy by affected firms, which are increasingly willing to push back through legal avenues.
