Woman dies of bird flu in Beijing

A 19-year old migrant worker died from H5N1 bird flu in Beijing on Monday, the South China Morning Post reported. Beijing health authorities confirmed the cause of death yesterday. Huang Yanqing, originally from Fujian province, had bought nine live ducks at a market in Hebei province and had them butchered on December 19. More than 100 people were said to have been in close contact with Huang during her illness. The H5N1 strain is highly infectious and the most frequently fatal form of bird flu. It is usually contracted through contact with infected poultry.
