Wyndham currently has 14,900 rooms in China, and it plans to add another 19,500 by the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. It is also profitably present in most markets. Its first-quarter results beat analyst estimates.
Wyndham has a healthy pipeline of 95,000 rooms, up 21% versus last year.
Management calculated that in the past quarter, it signed a contract for a new property worldwide every 15 hours. Now it is planning the opening of a newly constructed, 550-room, 26-floor luxury hotel that it will manage in Xiamen, Fujian Province.
The Wyndham Xiamen hotel is , now under construction by the He Ping Li Hotel Company in the center of Xiamen.
The Wyndham Xiamen hotel will be the group’s first fully managed property in the Asia Pacific region.
