President Xi Jinping called for stronger Communist Party control at the top echelons of China’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) during a meeting on Friday, Reuters reported, citing state media. The meeting, attended by Premier Li Keqiang as well as other Politburo members, also saw the approval of documents on SOE reform related to Communist Party building and prevention of the loss of state assets, according to a Xinhua report. The meeting urged strengthening of internal supervision and audits at SOEs through party anti-graft inspections and public scrutiny, the official news agency said.
