Chinese President Xi Jinping told the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation forum on Sunday that his government is willing to sacrifice economic growth for reform, South China Morning Post reported. Xi said economic growth remains healthy but that China would introduce reform in a systematic way. Next month sees the Communist Party plenum where the new reform program is expected to be introduced. China’s economic growth in the first half of the year fell from 9.6% in 2011 down to 7.6% this year.
