Xianglu Grand, large and wired in

[photopress:Xiamen.jpg, full, alignright]One of the largest hotels in China, the Xianglu Grand Hotel in Xiamen, has officially opened.

The total conference, exhibition and banqueting area of the hotel is 8,967 square meters, with two grand ballrooms each accommodating up to 950 guests. Add to this twenty-six additional function rooms with a comprehensive range of modern audio visual equipment, lighting support, and simultaneous translation facilities. At a guess it could cater for a conference with 3,000 guests using the two ballrooms and all the function rooms. Or, if you prefer 7.5 747 aircraft full of delegates. The mind boggles.

The guests are, as it were, wired in. They have broadband Internet access/WiFi, data ports and IDD, voice mail, satellite TV, coffee and tea making facilities in their room, large work desk, and 24-hour room service. Plainly, as with many hotels these days, the primary target is the traveling business executive. And lots of them.
