XPeng unveiled its new L03 model in Munich on July 16, marking the Chinese electric-vehicle maker’s first simultaneous launch of a global model overseas and in China, reports Caixin.
XPeng’s move follows a similar strategy by BYD, which unveiled its all-electric Denza Z supercar in the UK on July 9 before opening presales in China several days later. The shift comes as China’s auto market faces mounting pressure, with total sales falling 21.1% year-on-year to 9.9 million units in the first half of 2026.
The debut underscores a broader push by Chinese automakers to expand abroad, particularly in Europe, as they seek higher margins amid slowing domestic sales and intensifying competition at home.
