Police arrested 10 people in Anhui province who forced mentally handicapped people to work at brick kilns and endure beatings, AP reported. Thirty-two people between the ages of 25 and 45 were freed from a kiln on the edge of the city of Jieshou. The factory owner said he bought the laborers from a taxi driver in Shandong province who had found the people on the street. The laborers were expected to work up to 10 hours per day without pay and were beaten if they refused. In a similar in 2007, hundreds of people in northern China were freed from slave-labor conditions in brick kiln operations following a series of police raids.
