Guangzhou has become the sole candidate to host the 2010 Asian Games after Kuala Lumpur announced it pulled out of the bidding. The Malaysian government announced it will not continue to bid for the games due to the high expense, estimated at US$366 million. Former candidates South Korea and Jordan also recently gave up their bids. The official host city is planned to be announced on July 1.
