The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) states China’s three major telecommunications operators invested a total of $23.8 billion in 3G mobile networks last year.
The regulator said China Mobile Ltd. (CHL), China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (CHU) and China Telecom Ltd. (CHA) built 325,000 3G base stations.
Wall Street Journal Online reported that by the end of November 2009, China had 13.07 million 3G users. The ministry said it expects China’s 3G users exceeded 15.0 million by the end of 2009.
