Acer, the world’s second largest PC brand, is planning to build a global IT manufacturing center with its partners and set up a second base in the city of Chongqing in China.
Acer said it chose Chongqing for its infrastructure, supply of manpower, utilities such as water and electricity and for the city government’s expertise and administrative efficiency. And the fact it is a transportation hub with links to Europe and southeast China.
Telecompaper reports Chongqing will become Acer’s second China headquarters. The company will draw up specific plans for western China and a contract will be signed with the Chongqing city government in December.
