ADB approves railway loan

The Asian Development Bank approved US$500 million for part of the east-west trunk railway – the biggest loan offered to China.

The ADB-funded section will run for 377km from Hubei province to Chongqing municipality. The line is expected to cost US$2.36 billion and be ready by the end of 2009.
